Very pleased to see HUGO CABRET won the Caldecott Award–although awarding prizes in the arts is always a hit and miss process, worthy entires denied acclaim because they’re more difficult and controversial. CABRET is a gorgeous book to look at as well as read and both my sons enjoyed it immensely…

I entirely agree with you. It’s fun for me to see what books have been awarded prizes throughout the year, but I try never to take any of these rewards too seriously.
