I’ve been absent over the past few weeks and though I had a rather light course load this semester, the conclusion of the year was pretty demanding. But everything is finished and today is my first day of nearly a month without any classes (though I will still be plugging away at the bookstore).
The bookstore has been interesting. We’ve been frightfully busy and anyone popping in would be surprised to learn of the economic situation of the country. Whether this is true or not, but I had one customer tell me that she believed people were looking to give more meaningful and lasting gifts this year. After all, there are few gifts as meaningful and lasting that you can purchase for the price of a book!
(Also allow me to add that at present I am not too keen on WordPress’ recent interface alterations. Usually tech-like changes don’t bother me in the least, but I don’t find it intuitive at all. Perhaps I just need to play with it a bit more. I just inadvertently deleted about 20 comments. Sorry!)
Mid-November seems to have turned into a proverbial spring cleaning for my blog. I’ve organized my reviews by author, I’ve begun sorting out defunct/unhelpful categories and tags, and I am now on to dusting off my Links’ list.
And this is where I need your help:
Please take a moment to visit my Links’ list to make sure your blog is listed correctly and that it actually links to you.
Also, if you read and have linked to my blog but I’ve yet to link back remind me please! Visit my Links’ list and leave a comment with your address and name you care to be listed by.
Thanks for your help!

Something I’ve always meant to do but never got around to doing has been sorting my reviews and making an easy to read list of them. I’ve had different ideas floating about my head including sorting them chronologically according to publication, sorting them by genre, but I’ve finally come to terms to sorting them in the usual fashion: books I’ve commented on sorted by author. (Still a work in progress!)

I’m “posting” this on September 18th though it won’t show up for a few days. But since September 14th I’ve had no electricity, which hasn’t been too bad but definitely has some frustrations: no laptop use for writing papers, no well-lit areas to read, and cooking in the dark has resulted in a lot of unnecessary eating out. Hopefully by the time this post appears that magic wand of electricity will touch the circuits of my humble abode.
Blog wise a lot has been going on at Adventures in Reading: the layout has been tweaked with a new banner I am particularly taken with, I’ve poorly utilized Flickr to display some of the books I’ve read, I’ve hooked up an RSS feed to display some of my favorite posts (see if you’re on the list!), my Links have been moved to a separate page for the sake of tidiness, and I also had a brief mad bout of trying to link my reviews to other reviews with a modicum of success.
